Writing a CV for the IT industry
If you are looking for a job in the IT industry, you already know that having a good CV is an essential tool. In fact, it’s a key to entering the job market that you must use wisely.
Here are some tips on how tocreate a CV that represents you well.
Be honest
To ensure more visibility and make a good impression, choose a traditional CV style. Indicate the positions you have held, starting with the most recent. Add a brief description ofyour work experiencesto indicate how you put your skills to use. Go into detail, but use clear and concise language.
Further along in the CV, you can also list your technology skills.
When you write your CV, do not try to impress your future recruiter by adding fictional jobs or skills you do not possess. If the recruiter secures an interview for you, a mere question or two will be enough to unmask you! Remember that employers may ask you to take a test or complete a questionnaire to validate your knowledge. It’s best to be honest from the start if you don’t want to be embarrassed!
Keep things simple
Although the sections where you list your previous jobs and your skills are very important, do not overemphasize them.
To guide the recruiter properly, indicate your competence level for each skill. You can specify the number of years’ experience you have or use a grading system; you can add the word “beginner,” “intermediate” or “expert” next to each skill, for example.
Adaptyour CV
Technology companies aren’tnecessarily seeking the same types of IT professionals. Before sending your CV, highlight certain skills so theycatch the recruiter’s attention. For example, if you apply for a position as a project manager, highlight your management skills.
